Background

In 2017, Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico, devastating the country and leaving its people without basic necessities, clean water and electricity for months.

How We Helped

Knowing many of the children on the island would not have a way to celebrate Christmas during a time when they needed to do so most, Hillwood Airways partnered with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to deliver gifts to children who would not have otherwise received them. Because the shipment costs could have prevented the toys from being delivered, the donation of the aircraft and crew made the mission possible.

Special Arrangements

Hillwood Airways coordinated the toy drive and used its Boeing 737-700C BBJ, configured in an all-cargo format, to deliver 30,000 toys. Toys were loaded at Fort Worth Alliance Airport and again at Miami’s Luiz Munoz International Airport before arriving in Puerto Rico in time for Christmas and Three Kings Day on January 6.
